Barrie Hyde
Barrie has had a passion for radio since listening to Uncle Mac on the Light Programme back in the 1950s. He grew up having a long standing affair with the pirate radio stations of the 60s and 70s and for the past 20 years has presented various shows on both the BBC and community radio.
Having survived the perils of the commercial world for 33 years, Barrie started writing as a cathartic response to being put on the scrap heap by his employer.
His first novel ‘A Higher Authority’ was published in 2014, the sequel, ‘My Enemy’s Enemy’ in 2015. A book of short stories was published three years ago titled ‘Still Waters.’ and the story ‘Et tu Brut’ last year. All four books are currently available on Amazon.
He’s still trying to make it as a rockstar and his first record was released three years ago as a 68 year-old! He has since released two further records. He’s currently working on an album which he hopes to release this year using the most modern of recording techniques possible – AI.
He’s very resentful of the way people suggest the elderly are not capable of using modern technology. Barrie thrives on it and firmly believes that by keeping up with advancements he still has the mind of a 25 year-old. His aim is to become the first septuagenarian to make number one!
Barrie lives in Bedfordshire with a scruffy mutt called Kate. His two children have supposedly flown the nest but reappear on a regular basis. He needs to sell a lot of books and records to keep them in the manner to which they’d like to become accustomed!
He currently presents The Soft Rock Shuffle on BHR Mondays 8 till 10 pm
